16.1hh 13yo Thoroughbred Gelding – Talented Event / Dressage Prospect
Very sad sale of this incredibly genuine and sweet horse. He truly deserves the best home, so please read about him below.
Mac is a 16.1hh, 13-year-old Thoroughbred gelding with a lovely temperament and a brilliant attitude to work. Despite being a Thoroughbred, he is incredibly level-headed and does not behave like a typical “hot” TB. He is a relaxed, kind horse who enjoys having a job and always tries his best to please his rider.
Over the past year he has been produced and brought back into work, attending arena hires, cross-country schooling and shows. He has shown fantastic potential across multiple disciplines and would excel in either eventing or dressage.
On the flat, Mac works beautifully into a contact with three correct, comfortable paces. In his first ever dressage competition he came home with two 1st places in Prelim classes, showing his natural ability and willingness to perform.
He also has a genuine love for jumping. He has previously competed up to 1m showjumping with scope to go higher and happily clears BE90 fences cross country. He has great stamina and a bold, honest attitude to his fences, which makes him a very exciting eventing prospect for the upcoming season. He is ready to get out and start competing.
Mac hacks both alone and in company. With new riders he may occasionally have a small nap when hacking alone, but once he knows and trusts you he becomes completely reliable and foot perfect.
On the ground he is an absolute gentleman. He is incredibly affectionate and loves attention – he will happily do a fist bump for a carrot! He stands patiently for grooming and bathing and is good for the farrier.
He is good to load (has had issues in the past but these have been resolved using a lunge line), and he is up to date with vaccinations, dentist and farrier.
Mac will come with his full wardrobe including saddle, bridle and rugs, making him ready for his new home.
This is a very difficult decision, as he is a horse I care about deeply. Unfortunately we just didn’t quite click, so I feel he deserves the chance to go and shine with someone else. Because of this, finding him the right 5⭐ home is extremely important.
