This lovely girl has spent her earlier years as part of a professional polo string, where she proved herself to be honest, responsive, and utterly dependable. Now semi-retired from the sport, she’s traded in high-speed sprints for tranquil countryside strolls — and she’s absolutely loving it.

She’s one of those horses who will happily plod along on a loose rein, ears pricked and enjoying every moment, but she’ll also pick up the pace with ease if you fancy a canter across the fields. Whether you’re looking for a confident hack alone or a steady ride in company, Skye delivers every time.

• Long, lazy hilltop hacks with plenty of time to graze and take in the view
