If you’re looking for a truly special first pony, Hamish is your man. A beautifully put-together 12-year-old Shetland gelding, he’s everything a lead rein pony should be — kind, safe, fun, and packed with personality.

Hamish has been an irreplaceable part of our family for the past five years, faithfully teaching my daughter her up-downs and taking her from first rides to Pony Club rallies, camps, and local shows. He is as steady as they come and adores children — from grooming and bathing to being led about and fussed over, he thrives on the attention.

He’s handled daily by little hands, with my daughter confidently picking out his feet, mucking out, feeding, and tacking him up. Hamish is the type of pony every child should learn with — patient, trustworthy, and full of character.

While he’s been a lead rein favourite with us, we know he’s also been driven in a previous home, though this isn’t something we’ve explored ourselves.
